Our friends

In Room 19 we have been working on our oral language and getting used to being filmed ready for the Manaiakalani Film Festival.

We are learning to:
  • use a loud and clear voice
  • share our ideas with others in an interesting way
  • be a good audience while we are waiting for our turn
  • smile for the camera
Today we were talking about our friends.  The learners in Room 19 wanted to share this with our family and whanau.

Lots of Bouncing ....

We were lucky to have a bouncy castle for a short time at Pt England on Friday!  Room 19 and Room 20 were first to try it out.  Some of us scaled the air ladder pretty quickly, while others found it a little harder.  We all had great fun!

Learning Links - access them from home!

In Room 19 we've been using a new app to help us with our learning!  Mrs Belt has created a range of projects to help us with reading, writing and maths!  The app we are using, Tiny Tap, is free to download on iOS or android devices or you can use any browser window from computer.

Mrs Belt has put a link on our Class Site so learners are able to access the projects and practice them from home (on an iPad, phone, computer or tablet).

Mrs Belt will continue to add any new projects to this link enabling any learners to practice from home after school, weekends or over the holidays.  We've really enjoyed this learning at school and hope you enjoy sharing them with family and whanau!

Basketball Pros

On Thursday it was our final session of KiwiSport Basketball!  Room 19 and 20 put all the skills from the previous weeks into practice, by playing a game of basketball.  We've really been looking forward to this and it was great to see everyone having so much fun on the court.  Basketball really was the winner on the day!

A huge thanks to our amazing KiwiSports coaches over the past 9 weeks - we can see some future Tall Blacks could emerge from the basketball talent in Room 19 and 20.

Using Explain Everything to help us with our story!

Last week we used Explain Everything to help us with our story writing.  First we took a photo of our story motivation - we were talking about winter and Mrs Belt found a great photo of some learners building a snowman.

Then we decided what our story was going to be and recorded it using the voice recorder on Explain Everything.  We were then able to play back our story and see what came next as we located the words to write our story from around the classroom.

Basketball Basics

Over the last few weeks we have been enjoying our basketball sessions with Coach Malik and his assistants.  We have been learning how to dribble the ball with our left and right hands and practising these skills with relays and games.

This way is left!

This way is right!
