Bubble Fun

After reading a book last week about blowing bubbles and writing several stories, on Friday Room 19 went outside and had turns blowing bubbles with a range of different bubble wands.  We had some great conversations about how big the bubbles were and where the bubbles went.

Team 1 Inquiry Rotation

As part of our Trade and Enterprise inquiry learning, Team 1 have been thinking about how we make things that we can sell.  In Room 19 we have been talking about making milkshakes which led to some great discussions about the ingredients that go into a milkshake and where these ingredients come from.

The entire team came together recently and rotated around various stations making different things, so the learners could experience this.  Over the three sessions, we make milkshakes, toast and butter and cream for pancakes.   All learners really enjoyed this creative side of the inquiry topic.

Yummy Cakes!

Last Thursday we all enjoyed the cake stall fundraiser that the netball girls organised.  There was a huge selection to choose from and some of us had real trouble deciding!  Here are some of Room 19 enjoying the cakes they selected.

Team Assembly Week 5

Its hard to believe we are already half way through the term!  Last week our Team Assembly and Jump Jam session was in The Street (the Year 7-8 learning space).  Our class really enjoyed going inside this space.  Congratulations to Aye Myat and Vienna who received the certificates for Room 19 last week!

Ronald McDonald visits Pt England School

Today Ronald McDonald visited Pt England School.  He had a great story to tell us about road safety and left us with a great song to practice to remind us about keeping safe when crossing the road:

STOP, LOOK and LISTEN when you cross the street.
Use your eyes, use your ears BEFORE you use your feet.

All of Room 19 really enjoyed the visit, and it was a fun way to reinforce this important message!

Goals for this week

Congratulations to Mariko and Jezer who received certificates from Room 19 at the end of last week!

This week our Team wide focus will be on these three things:

Stop think do
Use kind words
Respect yourself and others

We'll be talking about each of these things in class and practicing them as we learn and play each day!  Who will get our certificates this week?

Beginning our Inquiry Journey

As part of our Trade & Enterprise inquiry unit this term, Team 1 are going to market!  In Room 19 we will be making items to sell and earning money to spend at the market.

Our movie for PENN this term plays today, and finds out what our learners think about where money comes from!  We have included a few answers to make you laugh - can you figure out which ones they are?

Where does milk come from?

As part of our inquiry, Team 1 is getting together next week to make some milk shakes and other dairy related treats!  This week in Room 19 we have started talking about this and thinking about what ingredients we will need and how we can get them.

On Wednesday Mrs Belt asked us:

  "Where does milk come from?"

We are really looking forward to next Friday and making some great things!
