Room 19 did an amazing job with our item at Prizegiving last week!  Mrs Belt was proud of everyone and how much effort they put into practicing the singing and dancing over the weeks leading up to the performance.

Congratulations to Eva, Aye Myat and Jordan who received prizes in Room 19.

Room 19s blogging!

Yesterday Room 19 published their own letters to Santa on their blog!  We wrote our letters in our writing books first and then as a whole class learnt how to post to our blog!  Room 19 were really excited to see their blog post "go live."  Click on the learners' names on the right of our blog and have a look at some of our great Santa letters!

A Special Session with our friends in Room 9

On Friday, Room 19 welcomed Room 9 into our classroom.  They interviewed us in the morning about what our favourite things were.  The answers provided were extremely varied and included rugby league, Superman, Frozen  and lego.

Room 9 then went away and created jigsaw puzzles based on the answers that Room 19 had provided.  After lunch they returned to our classroom with their creations.  They helped their younger friends from Room 19 to complete the puzzles and Room 19 were able to take the puzzles home.

Mrs Belt and Miss Wood really enjoyed seeing how much fun all the learners had and how the younger learners really enjoyed making friends with their older peers.  We finished our special session with an ice block treat outside in the sunshine!

Thank you Room 9 for the amazing effort you put into the puzzles for us!  We think you are awesome.

Highlights from Room 19

For our PENN movie this week Room 19 shared some of the things we like about Pt England School since we started earlier this year, alongside some of our favourite art work.  We hope you enjoyed our movie.

Exploring shape

To assist with our knowledge of shapes, we've been using shapes in our inquiry to draw some animals.  On Friday we were drawing giraffes using Explain Everything and the shape tool.  Check out some of our giraffes:

School Athletics Day

On Friday Room 19 joined the whole school at Athletics Day.  We were super lucky with the weather as it was a beautiful day with a light breeze to keep us cool.  We had a total of 12 events including sprints, throwing, jumping, obstacle courses and fun with the parachute.

A huge thanks to Miss Vaafusuaga for all her hours of organisation and work behind the scenes to make the day so successful!  Room 19 had an amazing day!

A Yummy Cold Treat

At the end of last week Hannah's Mum bought in some yummy ice blocks as a treat for the whole class.  We really enjoyed sitting in the sun as we ate our ice block.

A huge thanks to Hannah's Mum for this delicious treat from all the learners in Room 19!

A Whole New World

Room 19's Film Festival entry showcases the amazing learning journey we take as we use the iPad each day.

We really enjoyed using costumes as it made us feel like 'real actors'!  We hope you enjoy watching our movie.  Please leave us a comment as we love hearing from readers of our blog.

Blogging our Stories

In Room 19 we have started publishing to our blogs!  Mrs Belt selects a few great stories each day and we are learning to take a photo of our drawing and then publish our story to our own blogs!

You can check out our work on our own blogs by clicking on the links on the right hand side of our class blog.  Keep checking, because different learners post each day!

Fantastic Footballers

Last week Room 19 had another football session.  We were lucky enough to have Room 22 join in with us.  We practiced our dribbling skills and also played a game where we tried to score a goal.

Athletics with Team 1

This afternoon we had our first athletics rotation with the whole of Team 1.  Room 19 got to practice their sprints, hurdles and sack racing.  We had a lot of fun in the sun today and we are looking forward to more practices over the coming weeks.

Here is a selection of photos from today's session:

Silly Hat Day

On Friday it was silly hat day at Pt England School.  Some of Room 19 made some great hats and others selected a hat from the hat box to wear.  It was great to parade over the stage during assembly and show off our hats.  Hendrix won a prize for his great hat.

The whole school with silly hats.

Some of Room 19 and their selection of hats

From today, all learners need to wear a hat in the playground to protect us from the sun, so remember:

Cricket Skills

On Friday we were able to try out cricket thanks to some great coaches from the Ellerslie Club and some of our Year 7/8 friends.  We were able to try batting, bowling and fielding skills in a series of rotations.  We had a lot of fun trying out cricket.  Check out some of what we did:

Niuean Language Week

To celebrate Niuean Language Week, at assembly on Friday the Niuean group put on a great performance.  Hendrix from Room 19 was involved and did an amazing job on stage.  All the dancers had put in time over the school holidays with their practices and they performed their hearts out on Friday.

Fakaaue lahi for such an amazing performance!

Kiwisport Football

This term for Kiwisport we are learning how to play Football.  In our first session we learnt about dribbling the ball.  It was hard for us to learn the difference between a kick and a dribble but we made some great progress.  We played a game called Rob the Nest which helped us practice our dribbling.

We are looking forward to our next session with our Football coach next week!

Welcome Aurora

Room 19 welcomed Aurora into our class at the end of last week.  She started her school journey well by receiving a certificate at team assembly on Friday.

Aye Myat also received a certificate from Room 19 for listening and following instructions quickly.  Here are Aye Myat and Aurora after receiving their certificates from Miss George.  Well done girls.

Cross Country 2015

Yesterday we had the Pt England School Cross Country for 2015.  After weeks of practice it was great to have the event.  Learners wore house colours for the race and the weather gods shined on us after a fairly wet morning.  This made the course pretty muddy, which just added to the fun.

Thanks to Miss Tumahai for these great photos.  We were all very tired after our race but did an amazing job!  We wrote about the race when we got back to class.
